Now Trending: Holographic Everything

While spring hasn’t quite sprung here in Chicago, I can’t help but have pastels on the mind. The soft hues just scream blooming flowers and leafing trees. But let me (re)introduce you to pastels’ edgier cousin: holographics.

The iridescent pattern has seen a huge rise in popularity (see: unicorn and mermaid everything). I rounded up a few different ways to wear the attention-grabbing shade. Check out my holographic picks below!

kat von d holographicIf you want a super sheer way to wear iridescence on your face, try Kat von D’s Alchemist palette. It features four different holographic highlighters that can be worn alone or layered over eyeshadow or lipstick. Alone, the colors are quite sheer but build up to a nice sheen. They’re also made with refractive pearls, so the reflective power is definitely there. And, as with all Kat von D products that I’ve tried, the packaging is stunning.

Kat von D Alchemist Holographic Palette, $32, available at Sephora

topshop holographicI stumbled upon this aptly-named powder while visiting the Topshop in Oxford Circus in London. Like the Alchemist palette, Topshop’s Chameleon Glow has multiple uses. It’s great as highlighter, eyeshadow or as a layer over other products. The powder also leaves a gorgeous, creamy finish that reflects light in earthy tones. I think of it as rainbow highlighter’s more neutral sister.

Topshop Chameleon Glow in U-Turn, $13, available at Topshop

puma holographicShifting away from beauty for a moment, how cool are these holographic sneakers by Puma? They add the perfect pop to any outfit – and match the Chameleon Glow almost perfectly.

Puma Basket Holographic Women’s Sneakers, $80, available at Puma

illesteva holographicRimless sunglasses seem to have invaded the scene recently. So why not wear two trends at once with this holographic pair? These Illesteva sunglasses are handmade in Italy and look ultra-cool.

Illesteva Leonard Mask Sunglasses, $190, available at Barneys

holographic fanny pack Fanny packs are a thing again and I love it. With festival season just around the corner (Coachella is in less than two weeks!), this holographic version is the perfect addition to your outfit. This bag will look especially shimmery under the sun.

Skinnydip Holo Cat Bumbag, $30, available at Skinnydip

milk holographicAaaand we’re back to beauty products. MILK MAKEUP is known for luminizing, simple makeup products and this holographic version of their highlighter stick is no exception. All you have to do is swipe it on the high points of your face for a luminous lavender glow.

MILK MAKEUP Holographic Stick, $28, available at Sephora

phone case holographicLooking for an even more muted way to show your love for holographic patterns? Try this phone case (also available for iPhone 6 Plus, 6S Plus and 7 Plus).  The effect is super subtle but will have you wishing for sunnier skies.

Skinnydip iPhone 6/6S & 7 Tropic Case, $20, available at Skinnydip

polish holographicPossibly my favorite product on this list is, this nail polish makes it easier than ever to get holographic nails. Unlike some of the polish powders that have been floating around, this polish comes ready to be applied.

AhHa Nail Lacquer Precious Silver Linear Holographic Polish, $10, available on Etsy

I have been loving the holographic look lately. I especially love the sneakers and the rimless glasses. I have never seen those glasses before but they look pretty cool! Have you tried Makeup Revolution’s holographic highlighters? I just did a post on them over on my blog because I thought the holographic look was soo cool.
