My Holy Grail Products: Low-End

Now that I’ve talked a little bit about my favorite high-end beauty products, it’s time to break out the drugstore holy grails. These are my favorite low-end picks.

e.l.f Aqua Beauty Blush & Bronzer ($6, e.l.f. Cosmetics)
This particular pair has been touted by many as a dupe for NARS’ Orgasm/Laguna blush & bronzer duo. I actually prefer the bronzer in this e.l.f. duo to Laguna (it’s much more pigmented) and while I won’t ever love a blush as much as I love Orgasm, the bronzed peach in this palette is also a winner.

Revitalift Miracle Blur ($19.99, Walgreens)
While this is by far the priciest of these products, I still have it as a low-end holy grail because it’s a multitasker. Miracle Blue acts as a primer for foundation, minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines, makes my skin super silky, and has SPF 30.

Maybelline The Colossal Chaotic Lash Waterproof Mascara ($7.99, Walgreens)
This mascara is seriously waterproof. I’ve ugly cried while wearing it and the worst thing that happened was some clumping. I usually use a few coats of this when I want seriously crazy lashes, and it absolutely delivers. Can you tell how often I use it by the lack of graphics left on the tube?

Ben Nye Translucent Face Powder ($9, Stage Makeup Online)
Ben Nye traditionally produces stage makeup, so this setting powder is meant to keep everything in place under hot stage lights. A little goes a long way with this, and the end result is soft, velvety skin. This 3oz shaker has also lasted me for about five months and I’m less than halfway through.

Jordana Fabubrow Eyebrow Pencil (Price varies by store, I paid around $5, Walgreens)
This is by far my favorite brow pencil. It’s a creamy formula that sharpens to a very fine point and is great for filling in my brows quickly and cleanly.

Wet n Wild H2O Proof Liquid Liner ($3.99, Walgreens)
My Kat von D Tattoo Liner is great for creating really fine, sharp lines, but while this liquid formula has a thicker brush it has even better staying power (seriously, I forgot to take my eye makeup off one night and woke up with my graphic cat eye completely intact).

Essence Gel Eyeliner
Much to my dismay, this eyeliner/eyeshadow was actually discontinued. However, a very similar option is the Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Gel Shadow in Silver Strike ($6.99, Walgreens). I’ve used both of these products, and they’re the only eyeliner/eyeshadows I’ve ever used that didn’t require an eyeshadow primer first. They stay all day and the finish is beautiful.

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick ($7.99, Walgreens)
This is my number one, holy grail lip color. The Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick in Nude Thrill is a My Lips But Better color with a beautiful velvety matte finish that doesn’t dry out my lips. While it doesn’t hold up on it’s own if I eat while wearing it, some setting powder dusted over my lips does the job (and honestly, I don’t even mind reapplying it – a little goes a long way with this and it’s a dream to apply).
