Festival Style & Lollapalooza 2016

Hello lovely readers. I just got back from my very first Lollapalooza! It was an amazing experience: I got to walk around one of my favorites cities and see some great artists. Nathan and I only went for one day, but we got to see Melanie Martinez, The 1975, Bastille, J. Cole, Lana del Rey, and Daughter. It was a dream come true. The food was also absolutely amazing (stay tuned for a post all about my favorite Chicago eats in the near future!) but naturally, my favorite part was the festival style.

There are, of course, the usual trends that always make an appearance when Coachella kicks off festival season. See: flower crowns, denim shorts, ankle boots and lots of fringe. But Chicagoans and out-of-towners alike brought their A-game when it came to Lolla this year.

I rounded up my favorite trends from this year’s festivals in honor of my trip to Lollapalooza. Check them out below!

I saw everything from sequined capes to shirts this festival season. Despite the summer heat, festival-goers loved some sparkle.

Off the Shoulder

Off the shoulder tops have been huge since this spring, but they were all over the place at music festivals. The look made an appearance in all sorts of forms: rompers, blouses and dresses.

Mini Buns

This favorite hairstyle didn’t go anywhere for the summer. The classic half bun, braided buns, glittery roots and space buns were popular all around.

The nineties are back in a huge way this year and the flashback fashion invaded the festival scene, as well. With the revival of the decade comes denim overalls. Some call them frumpy, I call them versatile and comfortable.
