Hello, U.S.A.! As most of you know (and you most definitely should if you’ve been keeping up with my Instagram) I spent the last week in London. The trip was sponsored by Medill and we did lots of arts and architecture touring and sightseeing. But more on that later – I have 400+ photos to go through, so as soon as I’m finished I’ll definitely be writing another post with everything we did and saw.
Today’s post does feature one place I stopped by while in London: Giorgio Armani’s Armani Box. I first caught wind of the store on In The Frow back in February. The store opened in Covent Garden mere weeks before I was to head to London, so of course I took that as a sign that I had to stop in. Check out what I bought + some shots of the store below!
I’ve been raving about Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation for a while now, so I was incredibly excited when I finally made it to Armani Box. This was the one place I had to go to while in London (aside from the incredible museums and Oxford Street shops, of course).
When you first enter, you’re greeted by Uri the Gorilla, a bright red replica of the statue that Mr. Armani has in his own home. I, of course, had to snap a picture with him. Uri also plays a very important role at the store, as you’ll see below. The rest of the shop is drenched in the same bright red hue, standing out from the rest of the high-end shops that line the street.
As you peruse the store, you’ll come across every shade imaginable in every Armani beauty product available. A variety of foundations, concealers, powders, lipsticks, eyeshadows and mascaras are all available for testing and purchase. (You can see in the photo above a peek of the swatching I did!). There are also beauty experts available to help you find your perfect match or, by appointment, give you a completely new look. While you’re there, don’t forget to have your makeover recorded in-store so you can watch your routine later!
You can also test out shades on the store’s built-in screens. The shop is a lovely mix of high-tech amenities and classic products.
What I Bought
Remember when I said Uri plays a big role in the store? I won’t keep you in suspense any longer: Armani designed a limited edition Rouge D’Armani lipstick shade just for the Armani Box called Urban Gorilla Red. It’s a creamy, blue-toned red that applies like a dream and has a slight sheen. The tube also comes engraved with a silhouette of Uri.
However, my favorite part of the whole store is that you can get any product personalized for free with the shop’s engraving laser. Choose from a variety of symbols or stick with your own initials for a completely personalized product. I decided to go with the limited edition Urban Gorilla Red lipstick and had my initials engraved on the cap. I’m completely in love with everything about it: the shade, the packaging, and of course the personalization. I love that I can hang on to the tube long after the product is gone.
P.S. The holographic nail polish can be found on Etsy!
The pop-up store will only be open until May 15, so if you’re in London, be sure to stop in! It’s the perfect place for both long-time luxe beauty fans and those just starting to dip their toes in.
